I believe what you posted was very logical. However, think on this, suppose you added a little content? I mean, I don't want to tell you how to run your website, but what if you added a title to maybe grab people's attention? I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is a little plain. You might glance at Yahoo's home page and see how they create news titles to get viewers to open the links. You might try adding a video or a related pic or two to grab readers interested about everything've written. Just my opinion, it could make your website a little livelier.
